Glassman said: “Those who know me know that my only problem is the chronic disease epidemic.” “I know that CrossFit is the solution to this epidemic and that CrossFit HQ and its employees act as leaders of CrossFit companies around the world. I cannot allow my behavior to stand in the way of Headquarters or affiliate assignments.”

Crossfit was embroiled in controversy last week – firstly because gym owners said they were dismayed by the company’s failure to issue a quick statement expressing solidarity with protesters or supporting black athletes, as dozens of companies in the days following George Floyd did death. Then on Saturday, Glassman published several Controversial Tweets Refer to Floyd’s death and coronavirus.

Glassman on that day criticized a statement from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation describing racism as a public health issue by responding to “Floyd 19”.

In a follow-up tweet, Glassman said the coronavirus model for the Health Research Institute “failed” and criticized him for formulating a “solution to racism”.

Glassman’s tweets have pushed Reebok and other brand partners, including gyms, away from CrossFit. Glassman apologized and returned to Tweets on Sunday, saying that he and CrossFit “will not defend racism”.

Glassman will be replaced as CEO by Dave Castro, CrossFit Game Manager.

“I am honored to be CEO of CrossFit, Inc.” Castro said in a statement. “I hope I do this right by affiliates, coaches, athletes and other members of the CrossFit community around the world and never lose sight of the mission Greg has created for all of us.”
